Can you explain the cucumber system a little further? I watched it twice but i was confused on a few points.
It wasn’t clear to me if they are rotating the old growth cucumbers to a wire above a new bed or if they stay hung above the same bed on a different wire. How they rotate them out of the way for the new planting wasn’t clear.
Also do they not prune the suckers at all after they reach the hook? He talked about letting three suckers go to full length before the new cucumbers were ready to replace them. I didn’t understand how that is executed
This farm is awesome. Obviously, there is a lot of capital investment going on. Is it fully funded by debt?
My wife an I have saved up quite a bit of cash to start our farm but the costs seem to add up very quickly when looking at 300k properties + greenhouses/hoophouses, water infrastructure, etc.
Oh yes, the investment is huge here, probably close 2 million right now. It’s all funded by a billionaire, so no debt on JM’s side. JM is an employee on this farm technically speaking.
Would really like more info on the EC testing in relation to soil fertility. Seems like the missing link in small farming long production crops.

Did the Vincents take out a lot of debt to get everything started the right way?
Yes, I believe they did, but they also got a lot of Quebec government grants too. They’re also FTF members, so they might answer as well.
Hi Curtis, my comment was related to the Vincents’ farm not JM’s. I’d love to model my future farm off of theirs.
Nice.

Wow, impressive operation! They share so much great info. Do you know what specific equipment they are using to test pH and EC of their soil?
